Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó considers it unfair that the Hungarian government is labeled “Putin’s friends,” when in fact it only raises “strategic issues,” 24.hu wrote.
According to the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Budapest often “raises an important issue, while others pretend that nothing happened.” This, in his opinion, indicates that in recent years there has been no room for rational dialogue on strategic issues and that “the situation continues to deteriorate.”
“If we make such a request, the answer we get is not discussion, not exploring how we can find a solution, but labeling as Putin’s friends, Kremlin propagandists or maybe Russian spies,” he complained.
Szijjártó added that the Hungarian government has always been honest about its strategy and goals, which is “possible due to the unique political stability in the country.”
“Therefore, we can say what we do and do what we say,” explained the Hungarian minister.
Let’s recall that the head of the American foundation Center for Assistance to Ukraine in the USA, Alexey Prokopenko, at a conference at Harvard University, showed Szijjártó a fragment of a Russian tank that was destroyed during the battle in the Kyiv region.
“It was made in Russia, and burned and recycled in Ukraine. Wear it as a keychain with your house keys so you don’t forget what Russian terror is. Please remember the lessons of history and what those Soviet tanks on the streets of Budapest 1956.” – said Prokopenko, handing the souvenir to the Hungarian minister.
