In the Avdeevka direction the situation remains difficult, but controllable, although in Avdeevka itself fighting continues not only in the private sector, but also within urban areas.

This was reported today, February 8, by the Novinarnya publication with reference to the commentary of the speaker of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops, Captain Dmitry Likhovy.
According to the officer, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to restrain the enemy, who is increasing the number of artillery attacks and continues to intensify assault operations from the northern and southern flanks.
Clashes are no longer occurring only in the private sector, but also within urban areas, including in the north of Avdeevka. Here the enemy is trying to cut off the Avdeevka coke plant from the rest of the city and cut the logistics artery, Likhovoy noted. “Our units are actively opposing this. Logistics delivery of defense force units is difficult, but continues to be carried out.
Likhovoy added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are steadily holding the defense, inflicting comprehensive fire damage on the enemy.
The total enemy losses over the past 24 hours in the direction of the Tavria OSUS amounted to 409 occupiers and 34 units of military equipment, not counting UAVs. In particular:
- 7 tanks;
- 11 armored combat vehicles;
- four artillery systems;
- the Ka-52 helicopter, shot down precisely in the Avdeevsky direction;
- six cars;
- five units of special equipment
The enemy suffers significant losses and introduces new reserves. At the same time, measures are being taken on our part to improve the stability of defense. Additional firing positions and observation posts are being installed, and fresh units are being deployed, Likhovoy noted.
As the leaders of the state and the Armed Forces have repeatedly stated, under the most difficult circumstances on the battlefield, the priority is to preserve the lives of people – the defenders and defenders of Ukraine, he added.
According to analysts of the DeepState project, the occupiers in Avdievka have already been able to cross the railway bridge and are trying to get through the private sector towards the motor depot and the entrance sign to the city. In addition, every day the Russians fill the development with personnel. The enemy occupied about 18% of the city’s territory.
