After two years of full-scale war in Ukraine, the unity of the bloc countries “has never been so strong.”
The North Atlantic Alliance has begun preparations for the organization’s summit, which will take place in Washington in July. One of the main issues of the meeting was continued support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. Ukrinform reported this on Wednesday, February 7, citing White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
As Sullivan noted, the summit in July will mark the 75th anniversary of the bloc’s creation and will be an opportunity to show that “the Alliance is stronger and more united than ever.”
He noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, when launching the invasion of Ukraine, dreamed of splitting NATO. However, after two years of widespread war, the unity of the bloc countries “has never been so strong.”
Sullivan added that the main issue at the Washington summit was military aid to Ukraine.
“Putin expects allied support for Ukraine to wane. But allied nations are reaffirming their commitment to providing significant assistance to the brave Ukrainians defending their country,” Sullivan said.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced an increase in military aid from the North Atlantic Alliance.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky held a meeting on Ukraine’s plans for this year in cooperation with partners in the European Union and NATO.
