Swedish prosecutors concluded that Stockholm had no jurisdiction over the case and could not investigate.
Swedish prosecutors closed their investigation into the explosions in two strings of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, despite the fact that they did not reach any definitive conclusions about those involved in these incidents. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency.
“The preliminary investigation was closed because there was nothing to indicate that Sweden or its citizens were involved in the attack,” the statement said.
Investigators concluded that Swedish authorities had no jurisdiction over the case and could not investigate.
Prosecutor Matsa Ljungqvist, who led the investigation in Sweden, said the department is working closely with German authorities who are conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.
“As part of this cooperation, we handed over materials that could be used as evidence in the German investigation,” he concluded.
Let’s recall that on September 26, 2022, three explosions resulted in major leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, which run from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea. The attack left only one of the network’s four gas strands unscathed.
The Washington Post has revealed that Special Operations Forces Colonel Roman Chervinsky played a key role in the bombing of the Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline last year.
