The government of Kazakhstan, headed by Alikhan Smailov, resigned; the duties of the head of the cabinet of ministers were entrusted to the First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar. The corresponding decree was signed today, February 5, by President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakh media reports.
“In accordance with Article 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I accept: 1. Accept the resignation of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 2. Temporarily assign the duties of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Roman Vasilyevich Sklyar,” said order
Tokayev ordered officials to continue performing their duties until the new composition was approved.
Alikhan Smailov heads the government of Kazakhstan since January 2022.
Earlier it was reported that the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili announced his resignation from the post of head of government. This is Garibashvili’s second resignation from the post of Prime Minister of Georgia. Previously, he resigned in December 2015.
