Two Polish professors, Adam Maciejewski and Łukasz Krakowczyk from the Oncology Center in Gliwice, restored the face of 24-year-old Alina Tsoi, reports New Poland.
During the Russian bombing, part of her neck, tongue, teeth, as well as her entire jaw, chin and mouth were torn off. Alina covered her two sons with her own body.
The work of Polish surgeons was highly appreciated by all members of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.
What is known about Maciejewski
Adam Maciejewski, a surgeon from the city of Gliwice, literally gives patients back their faces, restoring severely damaged organs of the head and neck.
Previously, if a patient had, say, cancer of the tongue, the affected organ was removed along with neighboring tissues, that is, mainly a large part of the face. Facial injuries have also occurred as a result of an accident. Such operations and injuries not only made breathing and swallowing difficult, but also made social life impossible.
Performing complex operations on the face and organs of the head and neck, Professor Maciejewski restores not only the functions of damaged organs, but also the face to patients with cancer and trauma patients.
