Yuriy Podolyaka is a native of the city of Sumy, but in 2014 he left for Russia and there began to publicly spread fakes about the socio-political situation in Ukraine.
Pro-Russian blogger Yuri Podolyak, who calls himself the “main spokesperson” on the war against Ukraine, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in absentia. The SBU press service reported this today, February 2.
From the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Podolyaka regularly carried out the tasks of the Russian special services to carry out information sabotage.
“To conduct information and explosive activities, Podolyak created his own YouTube channel with a total audience of more than 3 million subscribers. In addition, under his authorship there is a pro-Kremlin Telegram channel , as well as pages on VKontakte and the popular instant territories and the destruction of the civil infrastructure of our state, also denied the war crimes of the racists in Bucha, and called the exposed facts of the massacres to local residents who were “orchestrated,” the SBU said in a statement.
It was also reported that Podolyak was involved in organizing massive missile and artillery attacks in the Nikolaev region.
“To target Russian weapons, the attacker built his own networks of informers in the southern region. Among the evil spotters was the former head of the Nikolaev District Prosecutor’s Office, serving a life sentence for treason,” the SBU added.
Podolyaka is a native of the city of Sumy, but in 2014 he went to Russia and there began to publicly spread fakes about the socio-political situation in Ukraine.
The court found him guilty under five articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Part 2 Art. 109 (actions aimed at violently changing or subverting the constitutional order or usurping state power);
Part 1 Art. 110 (distribution of materials demanding changes in territorial borders in violation of the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine);
Part 2 Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
Art. 436 (war propaganda);
Part 2 Art. 436-2 (justifying, recognizing as legal, rejecting the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorifying its participants).
The trial took place in the absence of the accused, as he was hiding from justice in Russia.
“Comprehensive measures are underway to bring him to justice. The attacker will be found and punished,” the SBU assured.
We remind you that three judges from temporarily occupied Crimea received sentences in absentia for high treason. After the annexation of the peninsula, the defendants moved to the Russian judiciary and took positions in the Kremlin-controlled “Supreme Court of Crimea”, “Rospospodensky District Court” and “Kiev District Court” of Simferopol.
It was also reported that the occupation judge of the Yevpatoria City Court received 12 years in prison in absentia for high treason.
