The Republican leader said he suffered the publication of a dossier about possible Russian involvement in his 2016 election victory.

US ex-President Donald Trump has lost his trial against former British MI6 intelligence agent Christopher Steele. The court rejected Trump’s lawsuit related to the dossier about the Kremlin’s alleged involvement in his 2016 election victory, Bloomberg reports.

Then, during the election campaign, the special forces dossier with information about possible connections between Trump and Russia was published in the media.

Last year, Trump, in the context of the US presidential election, charged former MI6 agent Christopher Steele and his business intelligence firm Orbis in a data protection case. Trump said he suffered “significant harm and suffering” because of the release of the dossier and is trying to get a judge to rule that the information released in the report is untrue.

In January 2017, Steele’s dossier was distributed by BuzzFeed. It said the presidential campaign was compromised by the Russian Federal Security Service.

Judge Karen Stein on Thursday, February 1, dismissed the lawsuit and noted that Trump has no chance of receiving compensation for any suffering he may have suffered. And he added that he had no plans to determine the reliability of the information in the dossier itself.

“In effect, the plaintiff is seeking court findings to restore his reputation in instances where he has failed to formulate any viable remedy,” Stein said.

Trump has previously said in court documents that he is willing to go to London to testify in this case.

In a statement, a Trump campaign spokeswoman said the former president “will continue to fight for the truth and against lies such as those promulgated by Steele and his cronies.”

Desk, who Trump once called a “no-brainer,” was hired by a Washington research firm in June 2016 to study Trump’s ties to Russia. The Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign acquired Fusion GPS after Trump became a candidate in the US presidential election.

Lawyers for Steele’s firm argued that the lawsuit had no reasonable chance of success and that Trump was merely pursuing a “revenge.” Trump has a history of “harassing perceived enemies and others with whom he has a grudge,” Orbis lawyers said.

Orbis said the dossier was never intended to be made public and that Trump cannot hold the firm solely responsible for Buzzfeed’s publication liable.

Let’s remember that a few days earlier, the court ordered Trump to pay the writer Carroll more than $80 million.

The court also ordered former US President Donald Trump and his lawyers to pay more than $937,000 in fines for their lawsuit against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
