A hangar under construction on the grounds of an airport in Boise, Idaho, collapsed on Wednesday, January 31. The incident killed three people and injured nine others. This was reported by the American news agency Associated Press on Thursday, February 1.
City officials noted that five of the nine victims were in critical condition. Three people died on the spot. Several victims were rescued by fire crews working at the scene of the crash.
“I don’t know what caused it, but I can tell you it was a pretty global collapse,” Boise Fire Chief Aaron Hummel said at a briefing.
According to him, a construction crane also fell when the hangar collapsed.
The incident did not affect Boise Airport operations. City authorities are now investigating what caused the collapse.
