EU sanctions against the annexed peninsula will remain in effect until June 23 next year.
The EU has extended sanctions against Crimea and Sevastopol until June 23, 2023, the EU said in a statement on Monday, June 20.
“Today, the EU Council decided to extend until June 23, 2023, the sanctions imposed in response to Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol,” the document said.
Sanctions include a ban on imports of products from Crimea or Sevastopol to the EU, investments in Crimea or Sevastopol, tourism services in Crimea or Sevastopol. It also includes a ban on the export of certain types of goods and technology for Crimean companies or for transportation, telecommunications and energy businesses in the Crimea, as well as for the exploration and production of oil, gas resources. and minerals in the region.
The decision will take effect after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
Earlier, Ukraine submitted proposals to the European Union on the seventh package of sanctions against Russia. Kyiv insisted on the adoption of new restrictions as soon as possible.
According to the Office of the President, the plan of sanctions against Russia has been implemented by less than half.
