F-16 crashes near South Korea – media

A US fighter jet has crashed into the ocean off the west coast of South Korea. The pilot ejected.

An American F-16 fighter jet crashed near South Korea on Wednesday, January 31. The pilot was ejected. This was reported by the South Korean publication Yonhap, citing multiple sources.

“The fighter fell into the water, the rescued pilot is safe,” said the publication’s source, who wished to remain anonymous.

It is known that the fighter fell into the water near the city of Gunsan, 274 kilometers south of Seoul.

It happened around 8:40 am local time. Kunsan is home to a US Air Force base that houses F-16 aircraft.
