The Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Colonel General Alexander Syrsky, recently published footage of the assault on these positions on his Telegram channel, reports the Militarny publication.
It is noted that:
- the assault was carried out by soldiers of the 225th separate assault battalion;
- Western 155-mm artillery was brought in to support the assault, using cluster munitions against Russian infantry;
- attack drones also operated, correcting artillery fire, dropping explosives on the enemy and monitoring the progress of operation No.
- The Ukrainian command carried out the assault operation in the dark. Thanks to thermal imagers on drones, it was more convenient for the command to control the course of a combat operation.
This position of the occupiers was located west of Gorlovka. Russian occupiers controlled this area even before the full-scale invasion.
In December last year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied one of the waste heaps in the Gorlovka area, but subsequently abandoned it.
