The Russians have some development near Avdeevka, but it is not what they are looking for, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted.
The offensive operations of the Russian aggressors may dry up in early spring. This forecast was announced by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, in a telethon on Tuesday, January 30.
Budanov was reminded of his words in October 2023 that at the beginning of 2024 the situation regarding further military actions will be clearer.
“Not yet (the front picture is not drawn, – edit.). Closer to spring. Now I can tell you that an offensive operation of the Russian Federation is currently underway,” said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
According to Budanov, it began in November 2023 and continues for two and a half months, but the results of the Russian offensive cannot be called “something great.” At the same time, he recognized some Russian advances near Avdeevka.
“But this is not what they expected. They want to quickly reach the barrier line along the Black Stallion River in the Kharkov region and reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. As you understand, there is nowhere near this,” said Budanov.
According to the forecasts of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Russian offensive will continue for now and “somewhere in early spring it will dry up completely.”
“Now it’s the opponent’s turn. It will end, and I think ours will begin,” Budanov added.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces assessed the threat of a Russian attack on Kharkov. The Ukrainian military assured that they control the “beasts” of the Russian army on the northern border.
