Israel’s Defense Ministry says there are still pockets of resistance that will take months to eliminate.
The Israeli military in the Gaza Strip has already killed or wounded half of the Hamas militants. Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced this on Monday, January 29, The Times of Israel reports.
Gallant stressed that there is still a lot of work ahead, but “ultimately we will defeat Hamas.”
“We are fighting a long war, but in the end we will defeat Hamas. The terrorists remain and we are fighting pockets of resistance… This will take months, not just a day,” said Gallant.
He also added that Hamas militants do not have reinforcements, particularly weapons and ammunition.
“We have killed at least a quarter of Hamas terrorists, and wounded the same number,” Israel’s Defense Minister said, adding that the militants were struggling to take care of themselves and the wounded.
As you know, on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian radical group Hamas, based in Gaza, attacked Israel. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched a military operation against Hamas.
