The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducted an inspection of the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant. The press service of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine reported this today, January 20.
“From January 19 to January 28, 2024 in OP South Ukrainian NPP An inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency was successfully conducted within the framework of the Agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA in relation to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The inspection was conducted by an Agency inspector with the participation of an inspector from the State Nuclear Regulatory Authority. The purpose of the inspection is to verify the absence of undeclared nuclear materials. The inspection passed without any comment,” the statement said.
Recently it was reported that experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency, after many unsuccessful negotiations with the leadership of the work of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, gained access to the power unit No. 6. The team of experts examined the main components of the reactor, confirming that the reactor was in cold shutdown mode.
