From this airbase, long-distance strategic aviation planes fly in to carry out missile strikes on Ukraine. As of January 23, there were six Tu-95ms bombers, two Tu-160 supersonic strategic missile-carrying bombers and one Il-76/78 military transport aircraft at the airfield. Ukrainian journalist Andrey Tsaplienko reported this on Telegram.
Also in satellite photos you can see an arsenal of missile weapons.
The Engels-2 airbase is the permanent location of the 121st and 184th heavy bomber regiments participating in missile attacks on Ukraine. Both are part of the 22nd Aviation Division.
From the territory controlled by the legitimate authorities of Ukraine to the borders of the Saratov region is approximately 500 km, and to the airfield near the city of Engels is more than 600 km.
Let us recall that on January 10, two drones attacked the Russian military airfield “Engels-2” in the Saratov region, from which missile carriers take off for attacks on Ukraine.
Previously, at this airbase, the Russian military drew silhouettes of Tu-95 TS strategic aircraft – these drawings were supposed to act as decoys.
