The head of state commented on the situation with the crash of the IL-76 plane in Russia. According to him, the GUR and the SBU are clarifying the fate of all the prisoners and investigating the circumstances.
Ukraine will demand an international investigation into the situation in the downing of the Il-76 plane in the Belgorod region. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an evening video message.
He mentioned that Ukraine is now finding out what really happened.
“I called Umerov, Zaluzhny, Shaptala, Budanov and Malyuk – they reported the situation on the plane and in the exchange. It is obvious that the Russians are playing with the lives of Ukrainian prisoners, with the feelings of relatives and with the feelings of our society,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that the most important thing for Ukraine now is to establish clear facts, as much as possible, because the plane crashed on the territory of Russia.
“Truth” is the key word today. Heard the Commander-in-Chief and the General Staff on the use of the Air Forces. The Main Intelligence Directorate is investigating the fate of all the prisoners. The security service is investigating all the incidents. And I ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to inform partners about the data available in Ukraine,” the president said.
He also emphasized that Kyiv will insist on an international investigation.
We remind you that on Wednesday it became known that an Il-76 military transport plane crashed in the Belgorod region. The Russian Ministry of Defense said that on board the plane were 65 alleged prisoners of the Ukrainian Armed Forces brought to the Belgorod region for exchange, six crew members and three accompanying persons.
At the same time, the Ukrainian media reported that the Il-76 was carrying missiles to the S-300 complexes.
In this regard, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War called not to spread fake news and said that information on this case is now being collected.
