The press service of the Kyiv City State Administration reported this today, January 24.
According to experts, the reasons for the deformation of the tunnel are:
- poor-quality design solutions for the construction of a tunnel within the emergency area;
- poor quality construction and installation work of the tunnel structure in this section
Director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure Ruslan Kandibora noted that this particular section of the tunnel passes through extremely difficult hydrogeological conditions – the soils are very saturated, with a layer of peat, fine and medium sand.
At the same time, he emphasized that these are preliminary conclusions, because the expert study continues.
The final results will be known after opening the pit. Only then will experts be able to conduct all the necessary studies of the tunnel structure from the outside, he noted. “However, we can already see that the reason is poor-quality design and careless execution of work, the consequences of which now have to be eliminated.
It is also noted that, according to the findings of scientists, the Kiev Metro municipal enterprise carried out all the necessary routine work on the maintenance and operation of the distillation tunnel.
The stop of train traffic on this section was timely. This made it possible to begin to establish the causes of the emergency with the involvement of relevant specialists, as well as to carry out restoration work, the Kyiv City State Administration said in a statement.
The Kiev Metro notes that specialists are making every effort to ensure that this section of the metro between the Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya stations operates as usual in the shortest possible time.
