Environmental damage due to the war in Ukraine is estimated at UAH 2.2 trillion. This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets at the telethon, the We – Ukraine TV channel reports.
“Most of the losses, almost half, are damages from emissions of harmful air substances into the atmosphere. It is followed by soil pollution and pollution of water resources. That is, 2.2 trillion hryvnias have been calculated to date . But such calculations continue,” – he noted. Sagittarius.
The minister especially emphasized that about a third of Ukrainian forests suffered from the conflict.
“Unfortunately, it is the forests that have been and are becoming a springboard for active hostilities. The damage to Ukrainian forests today amounts to approximately $500 million. The number is roughly estimated, but so far there is no we have access to all forests. Until the demining is carried out, it is difficult to make the final verification,” – added the minister.
Strelets also reported that more than 800 thousand hectares of forest remain under occupation.

Let us recall that last year, on June 6, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, which caused widespread flooding in the territories of the Kherson region and caused great environmental, economic and humanitarian damage to Ukraine.
