Russian invaders once again installed mines on the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

On January 18, IAEA experts visited the Zaporizhia NPP, including all six main control centers. They were able to find out how many people worked at the station, but were unable to ask about their qualifications and experience. Previously, experts had already been allowed into the reactor hall of power unit No. 6. So far they are seeking access to other reactor halls, machine rooms and on the roofs of the reactors. This is necessary to monitor nuclear safety and compliance with the five specific principles for protecting Zaporizhia NPP. This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The IAEA said that again the occupiers installed mines along the perimeter of the Zaporizhia NPP, in the buffer zone between the internal and external fences of the facility. This is a closed area, inaccessible to operating station personnel. Experts stressed that this is incompatible with the Agency’s safety standards.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that in 2024 the priority for ZNPP will be the maintenance of safety systems and important measures that were not carried out in 2023.

Let us recall that at the beginning of January, the International Atomic Energy Agency stated that IAEA experts could not enter the reactor halls of power units No. 1, 2 and 6 for several weeks. In addition, the Russian occupiers did not allow them into some parts of the turbine halls of the Zaporizhia NPP.
