Vladimir Zelensky and Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nagayan discussed the possibility of long-term financial support for Ukraine from the UAE.
President Vladimir Zelensky had a telephone conversation with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nagayan. The Ukrainian leader announced this on Telegram on Friday, January 19.
“I am grateful for the support of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the assistance in the exchange of prisoners. Returning people home is a priority for Ukraine, so we look forward to the further active role of the Emirates,” he wrote Zelensky.
He added that Ukraine is also grateful to the UAE for humanitarian assistance.
“Last week we received a large batch – more than one and a half thousand – of generators. In the conditions of Russian air terror, such assistance is critical,” said the president.
The leaders of the two countries also discussed the possibility of long-term financial support from the UAE, as well as cooperation in the implementation of the Peace Formula. Zelensky told Al Nagayan about the start of preparations for the Global Peace Summit and invited the UAE to join the process.
“The voice of the Gulf countries is important for us,” assured the Ukrainian leader.
It was previously reported that the UAE has banned Cameroon flagged ships from entering its waters. These ships can be used to transport Russian oil.
