All states that promised to provide F-16s to Ukraine are complying with their obligations. Preparations for the transfer of the aircraft are going according to plan.
The first successes of Ukrainian pilots in the Western F-16 fighter are expected this year. This is what Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said in a telethon.
“Preparations for the first air strike, to be carried out by F-16 in Ukrainian air, are proceeding according to plan. Pilots, engineers and infrastructure are being prepared,” Kuleba said.
According to him, all states that promised to provide F-16s to Ukraine are complying with their obligations.
“The process continues, it takes time, but everything is happening more or less according to plan. I think this year we will have the first aerial victory of the F-16 in Ukraine,” added he.
At the same time, the head of the Foreign Ministry noted that the technology of the fighters itself is very complex, and it is more difficult than moving from one car to another. According to him, even the concept of air battle control is changing.
As you know, the Netherlands has promised 42 F-16 fighters for Ukraine. In turn, Denmark will provide 19 aircraft, six of them by the end of this year. The transfer of F-16s was also announced by Norway, which has about 60 aircraft.
In addition, the Dutch government decided to prepare the first 18 F-16 fighters for transfer to Ukraine.
