Ukrainian authorities have started negotiations with partner support for the return of refugees.
The Cabinet of Ministers began negotiations with partners on the issue of assistance to refugees returning to Ukraine. This was announced by the country’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative Taras Kachka in Davos, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, the Ukrainian and German governments can provide assistance in the return of refugees to Ukraine from Germany. In particular, the Ukrainian side can provide support for infrastructure, apartments and jobs, and the German side can redirect part of the social assistance to Ukrainian refugees to help them return to Ukraine.
“Negotiations with partners on this topic have just begun; it’s not this year or next, but it will happen later,” said Kachka.
The official hopes that Ukraine will be able to develop such a common policy with the countries of the European Union to facilitate the return of Ukrainians home.
According to the UN, about 6 million Ukrainian refugees are abroad because of the war. The Ministry of Economy expects up to 1.5 million of them to return this year.
It was previously reported that Finland will pay 5,300 euros to refugees who return to their homeland. In addition, it was found that Ukrainian refugees in Scotland may become homeless.
