The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces published operational information about the Russian invasion on Wednesday evening, January 17.
“The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult. During the day, 71 military clashes took place. In total, the enemy launched 6 missiles and 69 air strikes, carried out 35 attacks from the multiple launching of rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there were civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged, ” said the statement.
In the direction of Kupyansk, our defenders repelled six attacks near Sinkovka, Kharkov region, where the enemy tried to improve the tactical situation.
Under Liman’s direction, Ukrainian fighters repelled 10 Russian attacks near Ternov, Yampolevka in the Donetsk region and eight more in the areas of Makeyevka and Belogorivka in the Lugansk region. Here, the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break the defenses of our troops.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled seven enemy attacks in the Grigoryevka, Ivanovsky, Klishchievka and Andreevka areas of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdeevsky direction, our defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas of Novokalinovo, Novobakhmutovka, Avdeevka and another 13 near Severny, Pervomaisky and Nevelsky, Donetsk region. Here, the invaders, with the support of aviation, tried unsuccessfully to improve the tactical situation.
In the Maryinsky direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Georgievka, Maryinka and Novomikhailovka of the Donetsk region. In this direction, the invaders, with aviation support, tried nine times to break the defenses of our troops.
In the Shakhtarsky direction, our defenders repelled an attack north of Novodonetsk, Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical situation.
In the Zaporozhye direction the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.
The enemy does not abandon his intention to expel our units from the bridges on the left bank of the Dnieper. During the day, the enemy made six unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our troops.
During the day, the Defense Forces aviation carried out strikes on 7 areas where personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated, 1 control point and 5 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems. Also, an X-59 guided aircraft missile was destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces and means. Missile force units hit 1 personnel concentration area, 2 radar stations, 2 air defense systems, 2 artillery weapons and 1 enemy ammunition depot.
We remind you that the air defense forces and means destroyed 19 attack UAVs with which the Russians attacked Ukraine.
