The Ministry of Education of Belarus announced the introduction of new subjects in schools for 16-17 year olds, providing a “military translation” course, within which:
- young people will learn in English about the army and weapons of Great Britain and the United States, in particular, they will learn to determine the rank and categories of the American and British military;
- teenagers will also read military documents and maps in English and learn to interrogate British and American prisoners of war.
According to Belarusian media, the corresponding course for students in grades 10 and 11 is designed for 69 hours.
Previously, in Belarusian schools it was forbidden to show photographs of London, Paris and other foreign cities in language lessons, as well as to talk about the culture and civilization of Western countries.
The regime of the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is taking measures aimed at the complete Russification of education and public life, as well as the anti-Western indoctrination and militarization of children and youth.
