From December 5, 2022, the total ban for crude oil will take effect, and from February 5, 2023 – for petroleum products, according to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Norway announced a ban on imports of oil and oil products from Russia. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
The embargo was reportedly introduced as part of the sixth EU sanctions package.
“We support the EU regarding sanctions against Russia to keep pressure on the government and the elite. Now we ban the import of oil, which is brought by sea from Russia to Norway,” Foreign Minister Anniken said. Huitfeldt.
It is reported that the bans will take effect after a certain time: from December 5, 2022, a complete ban for crude oil will begin to operate, and from February 5, 2023 – for petroleum products.
The Norwegian Foreign Ministry stressed that the sanctions were aimed at limiting the Russian Federation’s ability to finance the war in Ukraine and were directed against key supporters of the Kremlin regime.
Norway had earlier reportedly handed over to Ukraine 22 M109 howitzers with equipment, spare parts and ammunition.
