The BBC reports this.
It is noted that, according to the US military command in the Middle East (Centcom), “no one was injured or received significant damage” on the Gibraltar Eagle.
The ship, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, continues its journey in the Gulf of Aden.
Shipping company Eagle Bulk Shipping said the bulk carrier was carrying steel products and was approximately 160 km off the coast of the Gulf of Aden at the time of impact.
The company noted that the ship “suffered minor damage to its cargo hold, but is stable and sailing out of the area.”
Hours earlier, Centcom said another missile fired at a US destroyer in the Red Sea was intercepted and shot down by a US fighter.
The Iran-backed Houthis have been protesting Israel’s war against Hamas since November 2023 by attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea that they say are associated with Israel or bound for Israeli ports. At the same time, maritime security firm Ambrey notes that Gibraltar Eagle “has been assessed as not associated with Israel.”
