Almost 400 thousand cars will be imported into Ukraine in 2023. This is the lowest number in the last three years, reports Opendatabot, a platform for working with open data, citing data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine .
Last year, 377,063 cars were imported, which is less than half in 2021: then 735,956 cars were imported into the country. By 2022, 534,863 had been delivered.
Passenger cars are mostly imported into the country – 73.7%. Motorcycles (10.1%) and trucks (9.7%) follow.
The average age of imported cars in 2023 will be 10 years. The oldest passenger car imported last year was the 1990 Toyota Supra.
Gasoline cars remain the most popular – their share in imports is 43%. 33% of vehicles imported last year were diesel.
Most of the new imported cars are registered in Kyiv – 11.5%, in the Lviv region – 10% and in the Odessa region – 7.6%.
The most popular car brand among all imported cars in 2023 is Volkswagen – 13.1%. Renault is in second place (9.2%), while the top five is completed by Škoda, Nissan and Audi.
Among the models, the most popular is the Volkswagen Golf (3.2%), followed by Škoda Octavia, Renault Megane, Volkswagen Passat, Renault Megane Scenic.

In addition, the market for electric cars in Ukraine has almost tripled over the year. In December 2023, the Ukrainian car fleet was filled with more than 4.6 thousand battery-powered vehicles (BEV), which is almost three times more than a year ago.
