Yemen’s Houthis mistakenly attacked a Panama-flagged tanker carrying Russian oil. This was reported by Reuters with reference to a statement by the British security company Ambrey.

According to Ambrey, the ship was targeted because it was believed to be associated with the UK in a public database, but this information was outdated.
The UK’s Maritime Trade Information Center said it had received reports that a missile had fallen about 500 meters from the tanker, which was 90 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni port of Aden. The center said in a statement that there were no casualties as a result of the attack.
This was the second tanker carrying Russian oil that was mistakenly targeted by the Houthis, Reuters quoted Ambrey as saying. Details of the first incident are not specified.
Yemen’s Houthis have been constantly attacking ships in the Red Sea since the fall. On November 14, the group said it would attack all ships associated with Israel, calling its actions a response to “US-Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.” At the same time, not only warships were attacked, but also many merchant ships from different countries.
On the nights of January 12 and January 13, the United States and Great Britain launched a massive attack on Houthi targets in Yemen. The attacks were carried out using Tomahawk missiles from warships and submarines, as well as fighter aircraft. The US military claimed to have struck command posts, ammunition depots, launch sites, production facilities and air defense radars.
