As US Ambassador Bridget Brink said during a meeting with reporters, the United States is committed to helping Ukraine defend itself and deter future Russian aggression, Radio Liberty reports.
In addition to the security assistance we have already provided to help repel and shoot down Russian missiles and drones, we are also committed to thinking longer term. We have also made broad strategic commitments regarding your membership of NATO. And I know that the Ukrainians are striving for this as well, but by then there must be a bridge that will help us support you in providing the security that we want to provide you with,” she said.
The US Ambassador recalled that last summer, during the NATO summit in Vilnius, the G7 countries came together and announced support for multilateral and bilateral security guarantees for Ukraine. This, in her words, “is this bridge.”
I expect that we will get to the point of announcing this, but before that we still need to discuss everything,” concluded Bridget Brink.
