The French leader said he had talked to his Russian counterpart on the subject, and he did not want to accept a UN resolution.
French President Emmanuel Macron considers an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on grain exports from Ukraine unlikely, although he is ready for negotiations. He said this on Friday, June 17, back from Ukraine, Reuters reports.
“We need to talk to Russia about food security, and the UN Secretary-General can join these discussions to get the grain out of Odessa,” Macron said.
“But I don’t really believe in this path, because I talked to President Putin a few weeks ago, but he doesn’t want to accept a UN resolution on this topic,” the French president added.
The other day, Macron said that in order to export grain, the Russian fleet must unblock Ukrainian ports.
As reported, on June 16, EU leaders from Kyiv called on Russia to immediately end the blockade of Ukrainian ports.
