The largest number of crimes for which criminal proceedings have been initiated are investigated under the article “Violation of the laws and customs of war.”
Since the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine today, January 12, 2024, investigators of the National Police of Ukraine have launched 111,368 criminal proceedings on crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine by members of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and their accomplices. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
Of all crimes, 96,767 are under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the laws and customs of war), 9 259 – under Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), 3559 – under Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Collaboration activities), 244 – under Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Treason) and others.
It was previously reported that Russia has killed at least 520 children in Ukraine since the start of the Great War. But in fact, there are many more dead children, because only official documented data are named, and it is not yet possible to document all the facts of the death of children in the occupied territories.
