The organizer of the blockade, Rafal Mekler, announced this on the X network. The border will be closed at the Medika-Shegini checkpoint. The strike will begin on January 15 at 9.00 and will last until March 15.
The document published by Meckler states that the action is being implemented to draw the government’s attention to the difficult situation of companies and their workers in the transport sector.
The protesters demand the introduction of a separate queue for empty Ukrainian trucks in the eShlyakh system, the establishment of a limit of ECMT permits for trucks weighing more than 7 tons and the introduction of a ban on registration and withdrawal of existing licenses from transport companies with capital outside the EU.
Let us recall that at the beginning of January, the protest of farmers who blocked the border in 2023, but unblocked it on January 24, resumed at this point. This new protest lasted several days, because the central and local authorities signed an agreement with the farmers, in which they promised to fulfill the conditions of the protesters.
After this, of the four largest truck checkpoints between Ukraine and Poland, only the Shegini-Medica state of emergency was open.
