As reported by the NAPC, the head of government illegally disclosed information about the whistleblower, which became known to him in connection with the performance of his official duties.
According to the agency, Szmigal reviewed a report of corruption from a whistleblower, namely an employee of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRAIL), and instructed the relevant officials to develop such a report. But among these officials was the chairman of KRAIL, Ivan Ryzhiy, whose illegal actions were reported.
Having learned about this, Ryzhiy opened disciplinary proceedings against the accuser. However, according to the law, a whistleblower cannot be held accountable by his supervisor. In this regard, the NAPC drew up a protocol against the chairman of KRAIL on January 5.
The department invited Shmygal to familiarize himself with the protocol on January 10, but he did not appear and did not report the reasons for his non-appearance. Therefore, the NACP sent the protocol for consideration to the court at the place where the offense was committed.
If the court finds Denis Shmygal guilty of committing an administrative offense, then a fine will be imposed on the official with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for one year, which will be the basis for entering information into the Unified State Register of Persons who have committed corruption or related to corruption. offenses,” anti-corruption officials explained.
Currently, the NACP has sent the protocol for consideration to the court at the place where the offense was committed. If the court finds Shmygal guilty, he faces a fine and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for one year.
At the same time, the Prime Minister’s press secretary, Olga Kuryshko, said that Szmigal “did not disclose any information about the whistleblower.”
