Law enforcement officers, with the support of KORD special forces, conducted a number of searches in the places of residence of the defendants – in Zaporozhye and Lvov.
Law enforcement officials detained a group of scammers in the Zaporozhye region offering work abroad. The regional police reported it on January 11.
It is known that three Cossacks aged 21 to 25 were involved in the illegal scheme. They placed advertisements on the Internet offering employment services in European countries. Potential workers contacted pseudo-recruiters at indicated phone numbers. Each of the defendants did their part of the work: one contacted clients directly, others placed relevant online advertisements and controlled the flow of funds to their accounts. For confidentiality purposes, all communication took place via mobile instant messengers. After discussing the nuances of the deal, the attackers took an initial payment for their services and disappeared.
On January 8, law enforcement officers, with the support of KORD special forces, conducted a series of searches in the places of residence of the defendants – in Zaporozhye and Lvov. Computer equipment, mobile phones, bank cards, SIM cards, flash drives, rough notes and money allegedly obtained from the crime were confiscated.
On the same day, the police detained the attackers and informed them of the suspicion of fraud. The defendants face up to eight years in prison. Investigative actions are ongoing.
We remind you that a pseudo-volunteer who promised discounts to displaced people was exposed in Kyiv.
It was also reported that a fraudulent call center with millions in revenue was exposed in Odessa.
