In China, a third aircraft carrier was launched, named Fujian in honor of the country’s eastern province. Xinhua reported this on Friday, June 17.
The solemn ceremony took place at approximately 11:00 Beijing time (6:00 Kyiv time – ed.). The launch was performed to the sounds of the national anthem, taking into account existing traditions.

Previously, the Chinese Navy had two aircraft carriers. The first of them – Liaoning – was built based on the unfinished Soviet heavy aircraft carrying the cruiser Varyag, purchased by China from Ukraine, the second – Shandong – was created based in Liaoning. Both ships are equipped with a non-nuclear power plant.
