As of the beginning of January 2024, 1.15 million Ukrainians received pensions of more than 10 thousand UAH, which is only 10.9% of the total number of pensioners. At the same time, more than 50% of pensioners received pensions of less than 4 thousand UAH.

According to the Pension Fund, the total number of pensioners in Ukraine is 10 million 516 thousand 537 people. The average pension is 5 thousand 385.25 UAH.

The highest pensions are received in Kyiv. Its average size is 7248.97 UAH. The smallest are in the Vinnytsia region – 4 thousand 532.66 UAH.

We will pay pensions and benefits on time,” Denis Shmigal said on New Year’s Eve. The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that last year the state demonstrated exemplary fulfillment of social obligations. In the structure of expenditures of the consolidated budget, social payments accounted for more than 12%.

This will be one of our priorities this year. We will pay pensions and benefits on time. There are internal resources, as well as the support of our partners,” Smigal is confident.

Let us recall that earlier the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich suggested that in the absence of international financial assistance, the indexation of pensions in 2024 may not take place.

Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said that the Ukrainian government may face the prospect of delays in the payment of pensions and salaries to civil servants if international partners do not decide to release the promised financial assistance in the near future.
