German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured Ukraine of continued full support in the fight against Russia.
Germany rejects “world under dictation” on conditions unilaterally imposed by the Kremlin. This was announced on Thursday, June 16, by the ARD TV channel, citing the statement of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz following a trip to Kyiv.
At the same time, journalists noted that French President Emmanuel Macron, in his speech during his visit to Kyiv, spoke about supporting Kyiv until Ukraine’s victory, while Scholz declared the “impossibility of peace imposed of Russia. ” The chancellor, in response, called the possibility of such a world “Putin’s illusion”, believing that “he will be able to take over the land and wait for times to change.”
“It’s an illusion, and I told Putin this. For example, sanctions against Russia will remain in effect until the country reaches a fair agreement with Ukraine. The terms of peace are the people’s decision, the parliament, the president of Ukraine “said Scholz.
“It must be ensured that Russia abandons the plan to seize part of Ukraine through brutal violence and its imperialist concept of changing the borders of countries,” Scholz added.
On June 16, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi arrived in Ukraine. European leaders visited Irpin, after which they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Emmanuel Macron promised not to force Ukraine into peace talks with Russia. They said that the Ukrainian authorities should personally determine the conditions for a dialogue with the Kremlin.
