In the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky city district court of the Odessa region, they helped evaders leave Ukraine in exchange for bribes. Such a mechanism has been in effect there since mid-April 2022, and during this period the defendants managed to formalize more than a thousand decisions in favor of those liable for military service. In court, decisions were made that fictitiously determined the place of residence of minor children to men. This gave conscripts the right to evade mobilization and also to go abroad. The Security Service of Ukraine reported this on January 9.
It turned out that the defendants also hired a lawyer who was looking for clients and also acted as an intermediary to meet with them and transfer bribes. For making the “correct” decision, men were paid $3.5 thousand. And they were looking for people who did not want to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine because of advertisements posted on Instagram and Facebook.
One of the judges was caught accepting a bribe and has already reported him on suspicion of accepting an offer, promise or receiving an improper benefit by an official. The perpetrator faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Let us recall that in November last year the SBU exposed that in the Odessa region, men of military age were transported to the border in ambulances. The men reached the borders of one of the European countries, bypassing checkpoints, and they got beyond the border along forest paths.
