In Poland, law enforcement officials detained a Belarusian woman on suspicion of espionage. Reuters reported this today, January 9, citing the Polish Internal Security Agency.
It has been reported that the woman has been in custody for the past three weeks.
“On December 20, 2023, internal security officers detained a citizen of the Republic of Belarus on suspicion of espionage for the Belarusian special service – the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus,” the message said .
It was noted that for several months the Belarusian woman provided the KGB with information about members of the Belarusian diaspora and about organizations uniting Belarusians and Poles of Belarusian nationality.
The woman was taken into custody for three months.
It was previously reported that the Internal Security Agency and the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service detained 46 suspected spies for Russian or Belarusian intelligence in 2016-2023.
