The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine believes that Russian troops will try to push Armed Forces units from Severodonetsk to the right bank of the Seversky Donets. This was announced by Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexei Gromov at a briefing.
“In the near future, the enemy will try to continue attack operations with the duty to fully control the city of Severodonetsk to push our units to the right bank of the Seversky Donets River,” he said.
According to Gromov, the Russian enemy will launch artillery strikes on the city’s territory and will use multiple rocket launch systems in the rear.
“At the same time, it is possible that the enemy will try to overcome the defenses of our troops in Metelkino and Sirotino to meet on the left bank of the river,” Gromov added.
Gromov also noted that in order to prevent such actions by the occupiers, units of Ukrainian defenders were consolidated into a tactical group, additional integrated mobile reserves and an artillery reserve were formed, and a no stopping supply of ammunition was established. .
“Yes, at present, four bridges across the Seversky Donets have been destroyed by the enemy, but we have taken appropriate measures and identified the main and some backup options to provide supplies to the defenders of Severodonetsk,” said Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny noted that Severodonetsk is an important point in the system of defense operations of the Lugansk region.
As previously reported, a difficult situation remains in the Luhansk region. The Ukrainian military prevents enemy aggression from three directions simultaneously – they defend Severodonetsk and they are not allowed to advance into Lysichansk.
