This is reported by RMF24 FM with reference to the European Commissioner’s letter to the President of the European Commission Ursulie von der Leyen and the EC Vice President for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis.

According to the publication, Wojciechowski will block the regulations if his proposals are not taken into account, in particular, on restrictions on the import of sugar and poultry meat from Ukraine, because “this threatens to destabilize the EU market.”

The European Commissioner also repeated his position, placing responsibility for the current state of affairs on the Russian Federation, which is blocking the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products to its traditional markets in Asia and Africa. He asks to support Ukrainian transit to EU seaports so that Ukraine can return to these markets.

Wojciechowski is a Polish politician and Member of the European Parliament, elected from the Łódź Voivodeship, representing the Polish People’s Party (PSL) (2004-2006), the Polish People’s Party “Piast” (PSL “Piast”) (2006-2010) and Law and Justice (with 2010).

Since 2019, the portfolio of the European Commissioner for Agriculture.

Polish carriers continue to physically block three of the four largest border crossings on the Polish-Ukrainian border. Because of this, not only exporters, importers and carriers of the two countries suffer damage, but also relations between the two countries, which have not yet had time to recover from the grain conflict, suffer.

In November-December 2023, as well as from January 4, Polish farmers blocked the Medika-Shegini truck checkpoint. But on January 6, the Polish government signed an agreement with farmers to unblock the border with Ukraine.
