Leaders of the three largest countries of the European Union – Germany, France and Italy – arrived in Kyiv to discuss the future of Ukraine.
Their visit was not announced for security reasons. Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and Mario Draghi visited the city where one of the biggest battles took place – Irpin. Later, they gave a joint press conference where they announced their vision on the future world with Russia.
Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi believes that peace with Russia should be achieved in terms of Ukraine, he said at a press conference.
“We really want peace. We want other cities not to suffer, but Ukraine must defend itself to achieve peace. And we, in one way or another, will not do anything without consideration “The world must be the same as it wants to see Ukraine, and it must be long -term,” believes the head of the Italian government.
He stressed that during the visit he heard hope from the people of Ukraine, and noted that “we are called to support and help Ukraine build its future.”
During a visit to Irpen, Draghi assured that Ukraine would receive assistance to restore the infrastructure destroyed by the Russians.
In this regard, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia does not want peace, but only wants war and break Ukraine and the EU.

He also mentioned that the aggressor state should realize that peace has no alternative and should start seeking peace.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine understands that the path to the EU is long, but Ukrainians are ready to work here and deserve the status of a candidate. He also stated Ukraine’s needs for weapons:
“We look forward to new deliveries, first of all, heavy weapons, modern rocket artillery, anti-missile defense systems, etc.,” the guarantor summed up.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron promised that he would not force Ukraine into peace talks with Russia. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities must personally determine the conditions for a dialogue with the Kremlin.
