Military aid to Ukraine will not always be at the level of 2022-2023, the US State Department warns.
Washington will not always be ready to provide military assistance to Ukraine at the level of 2022-2023. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller announced this on Friday, January 5, in a briefing.
At the same time, he stressed that the United States will continue to support Ukraine “as long as necessary.”
“The goal is to ultimately help Ukraine build a military industrial base,” Miller said.
He noted that this is necessary so that Ukraine can independently finance, purchase and produce ammunition.
“But we’re not there yet, and that’s why it’s so important that Congress passes a funding bill, because we’re not yet at the stage where Ukraine can defend itself based solely on its own strength,” he stressed.
We remind you that earlier the White House said that there was no money for new military support for Ukraine before the US Congress approved it.
On December 27, the United States announced that it would give Ukraine its final military aid package in 2023, worth $250 million.
US President Joe Biden asked Congress in October to approve additional funding, including more than $60 billion for Ukraine. But it stalled in the Senate over bipartisan differences over border security with Mexico.
