The conversation with the Turkish leader was very informative. During the negotiations, work on a peace formula was discussed, and Ankara’s representative was invited to a meeting at the advisory level, which will be held in Switzerland. It is also important for Ukraine that Türkiye be a mediator in the exchange of prisoners. Zelensky announced this in an evening address.
Return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russians. The return of prisoners and all those against whom repression is taking place in the occupied territory, in particular in Crimea. Turkey’s mediation is very important so that the Crimean Tatars and everyone else who is held in Russian captivity can be released,” he noted.
The Ukrainian leader also thanked his colleague for cooperation in many areas, including defense. He reminded that there are successful Ukrainian-Turkish projects.
Zelensky added that security in the Black Sea region largely depends on cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey. He thanked for the support of the work of the sea export corridor, through which about 500 ships have already transported more than 14 million tons of cargo.
Let us remind you that the largest exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion took place on January 3. 230 Ukrainians returned home.
This exchange of prisoners took place after a long pause, because the aggressor country blocked this process for a long time. This exchange was the 49th since the start of a full-scale war. Ukraine managed to return home 2 thousand 828 defenders.
