One of the reasons for this decision is that Mali voted against UN resolutions requiring Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine.
According to Swedish Minister of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Johann Forssell, as part of the reform, Swedish aid will not be used to support states that are undemocratic or oppose the “rules-based world order” and thus “undermine Swedish interests.”
Forssell’s department was informed that over the past ten years, Sweden has provided Mali with more than 3.5 billion Swedish kronor (more than $340 million) in development assistance.
Meanwhile, Finland will ban liquefied gas from Russia: they do not believe that it will fall under EU sanctions.
The Finnish government intends to ban imports of Russian liquefied gas (LNG) at the national level from 2025, said Minister of Climate and Environment Kai Mykkänen.
It would be easier if this were a common EU decision, but some member states are not ready. It is impossible to make such a decision at the EU level, this is a fact, he said.
