So, at a briefing on January 5, he commented on the material of the British publication The Telegraph, which states that Ukraine is soon preparing for a Russian offensive in the region due to intensifying attacks. The publication names January 15 as a possible date.
As “Public” writes, Sinegubov added that Russia has not abandoned its plans to occupy the Kharkov region and “the situation can change every minute.”
He also said that Russia, according to intelligence data, plans to attack the energy and critical infrastructure of the region, so at the meeting of the Defense Council the issues of readiness of indestructibility points and coordination of the actions of emergency services will be considered.
The head of the public relations service of the command of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Vladimir Fityo, in a comment to LIGA.net called the material of British journalists “nonsense.” According to him, the journalists “twisted everything” and there was “nothing new” in the rest of the material.
He said that The Telegraph refers to “some obscure military intelligence units” and the material is “not worthy of attention.”
Both Russian and Ukrainian forces have been vying for better positions along the front line around Kupyansk, Svatovoy and Kremennaya, near the border of the Kharkiv region, since the summer of 2023.
