In the east and south of Ukraine, the operational situation remains difficult, despite the fact that the Russians have reduced the intensity of attacks in all directions of the front. The General Staff announced this in an evening report on Tuesday, January 2.
During the day, 56 military clashes took place. The enemy carried out 66 air strikes, including drones of the Shahed-136/131 type, and carried out two attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
As a result of the Russian attack, more than 100 civilians, including children, were killed and injured. More than 100 private residential and apartment buildings and other civil and industrial infrastructure in Kyiv, Kharkov, Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, Nikolaev and Odessa regions were destroyed and damaged.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult. In the direction of Kupyansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Sinkovka and east of Petropavlovka, Kharkov region, where the enemy tried unsuccessfully to break the defenses of our troops.
Russian troops did not abandon their intention to expel the Ukrainian units from the bridges on the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, during the day, the invaders carried out eight unsuccessful attack operations, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces still held their positions and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy.
During the day, Defense Forces aircraft carried out strikes in 12 areas where Russian personnel were concentrated. Units of the missile force hit two enemy anti-aircraft missile systems, an artillery system and a composition of fuel and lubricants.
We remind you that in the last 24 hours, the Ukrainian military destroyed 810 invaders. The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion was approximately 360,820 soldiers.
On the morning of January 2, the Russians fired 99 missiles of various types and 35 kamikaze drones into Ukraine. Air defense forces managed to destroy 72 missiles and all drones.
