As the war drags on, there are fears across Europe that if Trump wins the US election, US support for Ukraine may disappear.

Britain and other European countries are developing a strategy to help Ukraine in the event that Donald Trump wins the presidential election in the United States and loses support from Washington. The Times reported this on Monday, January 1.

According to the publication, Europe is desperately trying to increase production capacity in order to send arms and ammunition to Ukraine to contain Russia for at least a year, regardless of US support.

The piece says that some politicians in the British government believe that all it takes to defeat Putin is time, and that Europe should be ready to help Ukraine move forward without US support.

“He (Putin) is betting on Trump, but Europe is forced to do it without the United States if Trump tries to pull the plug,” the source said.

The publication emphasizes that most European politicians understand that it is impossible to let Putin win.

“Putin cannot be allowed to win because the consequences for European security will be serious,” said a British government official, adding that the Kremlin cannot continue the war indefinitely.

As The Times notes, according to some Western officials, Ukraine can continue to hold onto its territory without US support.

Finland will continue to help Ukraine in the confrontation with Russia

As we wrote earlier, on November 24, Canada announced a new military aid package for Ukraine.
