The Russian Federation is trying to occupy the territory of another sovereign state, and Russians must remember the price they pay for a war of conquest.
The Russians must know what price they are paying for the war in Ukraine. This was said on Saturday, December 30, by the Minister Counselor of the US Mission to the UN John Kelly at a meeting of the UN Security Council, as quoted by Ukrinform.
So, he responded to the shelling of Russian Belgorod.
“Ordinary Russians also bear the brunt of the Kremlin’s brutal war. As we openly discuss this issue in this room, Putin must also be honest with his people about the real and growing cost of his war, ” he said.
Kelly emphasized that Russians must know that the cost of the war to them is not just the hundreds of thousands of deaths on the battlefield, torn families and the many forced to flee abroad from the regime Putin.
“It is also a bleak economic future for those who remain,” the diplomat said.
“This is a war that he (Putin) has chosen, the purpose of which is to occupy the sovereign territory of another UN member state,” Kelly said.
Earlier on Saturday, the media reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked military facilities in Belgorod. But the ineffective work of Russian air defense has caused damage to the city’s civilian infrastructure, the sources said.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the failure of air defense – missiles flying in the direction of the Belgorod region were shot down and their debris fell on Belgorod.
